One of the best ways to identify how a rug was created and it's origin is by examining the reverse side of the rug. The individual knots should be different from each other with a slight irregularity between each knot, as human hands have made each one with slightly different tension.
Knots are counted by marking a square inch with a measuring tape (both horizontally and vertically) and counting the knots in both planes and then multiplying the two numbers |
